READER TYPES:
ALPHA:
Alpha readers typically work alongside the author and get the first draft (and outline if applicable) on a chapter by chapter basis. They are responsible for providing feedback on if the story is staying on track, if the characters are developing as expected, if messages and themes are being properly delivered, help determine if the pacing is suitable, etc. Alpha readers typically have a good understanding of story structure and should be able to offer valuable, in-depth feedback for the writer to use to improve their story as it progresses.
BETA:
Beta readers typically receive the story after it has been completed, somewhere between the first draft or a few revisions in, but before it goes off to an editor (usually). They are responsible for looking at the story overall and providing details such as if the story is laid out well, the pacing works, commenting on character and plot development, areas that could be improved, sections that may be unnecessary, sentences that don't read well, typos and mistakes (and don't be afraid to comment on what REALLY works well and what you enjoyed).

Born and raised in Sweden I've also lived in the Netherlands for a brief time growing up. I read a lot in my teens and never really stopped. With a background in both education, and marketing I've been working as a copywriter/editor, a ghostwriter, and PR/Marketing professional since 2020. My background includes a Bachelor's degree in Communication with a specialization in emerging media. I've completed multiple projects and worked on various stages in the author space. Not only is my work in the author space I also work as a social media manager, marketing/business consultant, and have experience in ad space. My husband and I run Shook&Co, a web design company that helps with web development and I also do copy and graphic design for it. I love to read and though I tend to keep my marketing business separate from my reading/writing, the two worlds often intersect (like here). I'm neurodivergent, a big fan of parenthesis, and will always root for the oxford comma. As an enneagram 9, I'm always happy to help people, sometimes to my own detriment. I don't believe in gatekeeping and am always willing to help others where I can.

I'm a lifelong avid reader who is always looking to find new authors and books to experience. I especially love reading romance and discovering all the unique ways authors turn common tropes into something new and fresh.
I've done sporadic volunteer beta reading for friends over the years, and I have recently started providing professional beta reading through my company, The Meet-Cute Grammar Geek. I love providing feedback that helps someone make their book better, and I have helped multiple first-time authors produce fantasy and romance novels with 5-star ratings.
While I work primarily with romance authors, I also love science fiction, fantasy, and science fantasy and would happily work on books in those genres. I also love working on books with queer, neurodivergent, and/or nerdy/geeky characters.
